OKLAHOMA CITY –The Geronimo Public Works Authority (Authority) in Comanche County received approval for a $144,925 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant Tuesday through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure.

The Geronimo Public Works Authority is addressing the growing needs of its community with a project to expand its water distribution system in anticipation of a new development in the area. The project involves the installation of approximately 1,300 linear feet of 6-inch waterline, along with all necessary appurtenances, to ensure reliable water service to future residents and businesses. The estimated project cost is $149,925.00, which will be funded through an OWRB REAP grant of $144,925.00 and $5,000.00 in local funds.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB's Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save the Authority’s customers $235,200 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
