Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Kiowa Public Works Authority (Authority) in Pittsburg County received approval for a $99,999 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant Tuesday through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s water infrastructure.

The Kiowa Public Works Authority is undertaking a project to enhance the operations of its water treatment plant. The initiative involves removing residuals from the plant’s backwash lagoon and transporting them to a designated land application site. This improvement will ensure the facility continues to operate efficiently and reliably. The estimated cost of $99,999.00 will be fully funded by an OWRB REAP grant.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB's Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save the Authority’s customers $188,600 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
