Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mounds Public Works Authority (Authority) in Creek County received approval for a $99,900 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant Tuesday through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s wastewater infrastructure.

The Mounds Public Works Authority is undertaking critical sewer system upgrades to support the community’s growth and maintain compliance with environmental standards. The project includes stabilizing the existing lagoon with additional riprap to prevent erosion and replacing a deteriorating manhole to improve system integrity. These improvements will enhance wastewater management, reduce the risk of infrastructure failure, and ensure long-term reliability for residents and businesses. The estimated cost of the project is $99,900.00 which will be funded by the OWRB Reap Grant of $99,900.00.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB's Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save theAuthority’s customers $182,000 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
