Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mountain View Public Works Authority (Authority) in Kiowa County received approval for a $99,969 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant on Tuesday through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve the Authority’s Wastewater infrastructure.

The Authority is addressing critical wastewater infrastructure challenges by replacing deteriorating clay sewer lines that have developed cracks, leading to inflow and infiltration. The project includes the replacement of approximately 450 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer line, 140 linear feet of 4-inch service pipe, and 70 linear feet of 4-inch riser pipe, along with all necessary upgrades to improve system efficiency and reliability. These improvements will help prevent groundwater and stormwater from entering the sewer system, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance overall wastewater management for the community. The $99,969 project will be fully funded by an OWRB REAP grant.

Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB's Financial Assistance Division, calculated that the grant will save the Authority’s customers $180,100 in principal and interest charges by not having to borrow the project funds.
